A diagnostic ultrasound allows a comprehensive evaluation of the problem area and may include evaluation of joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, soft tissues, and blood vessels. Ultrasound, sometimes called sonogram, is a type of imaging that can be done in the office. It does not expose the patient to radiation, in fact, it uses sound waves to create an image on the screen.
